Job description
About KLA
KLA is a leading global company specializing in diversified electronics for the semiconductor manufacturing industry. Our technologies are integral to the production of virtually all modern electronic devices including laptops, smartphones, wearables, voice-controlled gadgets, flexible screens, VR devices, and smart cars. We design systems for manufacturing wafers, reticles, integrated circuits, packaging, printed circuit boards, and flat panel displays. With a strong emphasis on innovation, we reinvest 15% of our sales into research and development, employing a talented group of physicists, engineers, data scientists, and problem solvers who collaborate with top technology providers to drive future electronic advancements.
Division Overview
The Global Products Group (GPG) of KLA, with over four decades of semiconductor process control expertise, supports chipmakers worldwide in achieving efficient volume production of next-generation devices. Within GPG, the Surfscan group focuses on metrology and inspection technologies that help wafer, IC, and equipment manufacturers to develop, validate, and monitor manufacturing processes. Their key products include SPx platforms that inspect wafer surface quality and detect defects in polished, epi, and engineered substrates throughout wafer fabrication.
Role and Responsibilities
This position involves creating image and signal processing algorithms for cutting-edge optical inspection and metrology tools. Tasks span the full algorithm lifecycle: from conceptual modeling and design through production implementation, performance evaluation, thorough documentation, and user support. Working closely with multifunctional teams for prototyping and testing is a significant aspect, as algorithms impact many system components.
Candidate Qualifications
The ideal candidate must demonstrate a strong innovative background with solid expertise in algorithm development areas such as texture analysis, deep learning, image segmentation, feature extraction, classification, statistical data analysis, signal processing, and filter theory. Experience in performance tuning, CUDA programming, parallel or distributed computing is advantageous. Proficiency in C/C++, object-oriented design and programming, along with MATLAB and/or Python, is required.
Individuals should be highly self-driven, capable of working independently or collaboratively in teams, and must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact within a global, multidisciplinary environment.
Educational Requirements
A Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics with substantial algorithm development experience is preferred.
