Job Overview

The Airport Catering Worker role involves supporting the preparation, packaging, handling, and transporting of meals, drinks, and catering materials destined for airline flights. This position is based at an airport catering facility, focusing on timely and hygienic execution of catering duties to meet flight schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Support in preparing and assembling airline meals, snacks, beverages, and related catering products.
• Package food and drink items compliant with airline standards and catering instructions.
• Verify quantities, labeling, meal types, and special meal requests before dispatch.
• Organize catering products on meal trays, carts, and service containers for aircraft service.
• Load catering items onto trolleys and other equipment for transportation.
• Assist in moving catering carts and supplies to aircraft loading zones promptly.
• Ensure delivery of catering items aligns with flight schedules.
• Help caterers with loading/unloading food, beverages, equipment, and service materials.
• Inspect catering apparatus and containers for cleanliness and proper condition.
• Implement procedures for food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and temperature control.
• Store foodstuffs and catering supplies in designated appropriate conditions.
• Participate in inventory audits for food, beverages, packaging, and catering stock.
• Report any missing, damaged, expired, or incorrectly prepared items to supervisors promptly.
• Assist with special meal identification and preparation based on flight requirements.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in food preparation and catering work areas.
• Adhere to airport security protocols and safety regulations on airside.
• Wear required protective clothing and personal protective equipment consistently.
• Coordinate operations with kitchen staff, supervisors, drivers, and airline personnel as needed.
• Complete basic checklists and documentation related to catering and deliveries.
• Manage time efficiently to meet strict flight schedules and deadlines.
• Perform additional airport catering duties as assigned.

Candidate Requirements

• Preferred educational qualification is a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in catering, food prep, hospitality, kitchen operations, or food handling is advantageous.
• Basic understanding of food hygiene and safe handling practices is required.
• Capability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• High attention to detail for checking meals, labels, quantities, and special instructions.
• Physical fitness to stand, walk, lift, and transport catering equipment.
• Ability to operate in airport environments respecting safety and security protocols.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain necessary airport security clearance.
• Prior airport or airline catering experience is beneficial but not compulsory.
