Job description

Role Overview

Join Air New Zealand as a Forward Planner in Christchurch and contribute to the long-term readiness and reliability of a vital fleet. You will play a key role in ensuring aircraft are maintained safely, efficiently and on schedule, directly boosting fleet availability and operational effectiveness while supporting great customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage long-term maintenance plans across all maintenance timelines, balancing operational and commercial priorities.
  • Create integrated maintenance programs including Light and Heavy Maintenance schedules, coordinating their timing and sequencing effectively.
  • Prepare detailed maintenance work packages for Maintenance Repair Organisations, covering heavy maintenance visits, retrofits, structural inspections, and other major maintenance events.
  • Strategically plan out-of-phase maintenance such as modifications, deferred maintenance, and component staggering to enhance availability and optimize maintenance load.
  • Collaborate with team members to spot continuous improvement opportunities that simplify planning and enhance operational and commercial results.
  • Develop strong working relationships with Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Network Planning, and other technical operations teams to deliver coordinated maintenance plans that support safe, reliable operations.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience in aircraft maintenance planning, engineering, or related aviation roles.
  • Good understanding of aircraft maintenance programs and New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority (CAANZ) regulations.
  • Familiarity with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning systems is desirable.
  • Excellent organizational skills capable of handling multiple priorities and timelines.
  • Strong communication, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to cross-functional teamwork.
  • Proactive attitude with a passion for continuous improvement, problem-solving, and quality delivery.
