Role Overview
The Aircraft Painter position is located at Jetstar's Melbourne Engineering Precinct, which serves as the central hub for comprehensive maintenance activities. This role involves applying surface finishes and coatings on aircraft structures, adhering strictly to Jetstar's approved maintenance and safety protocols, civil aviation regulations, and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and prepare aircraft panel surfaces and components for painting.
- Remove existing coatings and address minor corrosion on aircraft parts.
- Apply paints and specialized coatings using techniques such as spraying, rolling, and brushing.
- Affix stencils, decals, and aircraft-specific markings including liveries and registrations.
- Carry out rectification work involving surface preparation and repainting of components.
- Apply specialized coatings in compliance with approved maintenance documentation.
- Plan and manage individual aviation maintenance tasks related to painting and finishing.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards in aviation maintenance during painting processes.
- Interpret and utilize aviation maintenance technical data including manuals, drawings, and specifications relevant to painting.
- Complete required maintenance documentation following regulatory and quality guidelines.
Candidate Profile
- Preferably a minimum of two years' experience in automotive or aircraft painting.
- Relevant experience in aviation maintenance or similar industries is desirable.
- Sound knowledge of quality assurance procedures; experience with aviation quality standards is preferred.
- Strong time management skills with capability to manage oneself and others effectively.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Possession or eligibility for an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
- Attention to detail with a committed work ethic.
- Valid driver's license and capability to obtain an Airside Drivers Licence.
Compensation
The remuneration for this role aligns with the Jetstar Airways Engineering & Maintenance Enterprise Agreement 2023, offering a base salary of $83,236 AUD.
