AI Strategy Consultant

Role Overview

Seeking a highly experienced AI Strategy Consultant with 8 to 15 years in strategy and management consulting, including at least 3 years specializing in AI and digital transformation. The role involves advising clients on the effective implementation of AI by developing comprehensive roadmaps, designing operating models, and prioritizing use cases to translate strategic ambitions into actionable and fundable plans.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct AI maturity evaluations employing structured diagnostic frameworks assessing capability, data, and technology readiness.
• Develop multi-phase AI implementation roadmaps spanning 12, 24, and 36 months, sequencing use cases based on value, feasibility, and dependencies.
• Design AI operating models, including Centers of Excellence, hub-and-spoke, or federated structures, integrating funding and chargeback strategies.
• Facilitate use-case discovery workshops and apply prioritization techniques such as RICE and value-effort matrices to score initiatives.
• Create frameworks for AI value realization, including defining KPIs, establishing baseline metrics, and setting post-deployment monitoring approaches.
• Manage AI portfolios through stage-gate processes and dynamically allocate investments across the use-case pipeline.
• Lead targeted workshops with C-suite and board members to ensure alignment on AI goals and risk tolerance.
• Develop and supervise portfolio-level AI adoption strategies and change management plans.
• Mediate competing priorities among executives and build consensus among business unit leaders.
• Coach and mentor client sponsors to effectively advocate for AI projects within their organizations.

Candidate Requirements

• 8 to 15+ years in strategy or management consulting with a minimum of 3 years focused on AI or digital transformation efforts.
• Demonstrated technical understanding of AI and machine learning architectures, model categories, and associated data needs.
• Proficient in portfolio prioritization and value evaluation frameworks such as RICE and weighted-value matrices.
• Experience with designing AI operating models, governance frameworks, and financial mechanisms like funding and chargeback.
• Well-versed in AI maturity assessment models and capability diagnostic tools.
• Ability to interpret technical architecture documentation and proofs of concept to validate solution assumptions.
• Hands-on familiarity with enterprise AI platforms including Microsoft Azure AI Foundry, AWS Bedrock, Google Vertex AI, and awareness of open-source tools like LangChain and Hugging Face is advantageous.
• Exceptional skills in executive communication and workshop facilitation at the C-level.
• Excellent storytelling and narrative construction to present roadmaps as compelling, fundable business cases.
• Political sensitivity to navigate and reconcile conflicting stakeholder interests without impeding progress.
• Comfortable working in undefined or ambiguous situations by structuring transformation mandates into clear, sequenced plans.
• Strong advisory presence and coaching ability to establish trustful relationships with senior client sponsors over extended engagement periods.
• Excellent written communication aptitude, capable of preparing board-quality presentations and documents under tight deadlines.
• Performance outcomes measured by the acceptance and funding of delivered roadmaps, delivery rate of prioritized use cases, and executive satisfaction following engagements.
