Job description

Role Overview

We are seeking a Marketing Engineer, someone rooted in marketing but eager to develop technical skills. No prior engineering experience is necessary, as the role commences with a comprehensive 12-week full-time training to guide you from a non-technical background to independently building, deploying, and maintaining AI-driven marketing automations and integrations.

This position is neither a conventional software engineering role nor a traditional marketing role. After training, you will analyze how marketing operations function including CRM, lifecycle emails, CMS, analytics, advertisements, spreadsheets, and internal datasets. You will identify top automation and AI implementation opportunities and take responsibility for creating and managing these systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and document marketing operations by mapping all systems, data exchanges, manual processes, and redundancies to prioritize automation efforts.
  • Design and build end-to-end automated workflows integrating CRM, email, CMS, analytics, and advertising platforms through APIs, webhooks, and scheduling tools.
  • Manage marketing data pipelines by extracting, cleansing, transforming, and moving data reliably with SQL and Python, ensuring validation and quality control.
  • Develop AI-powered features using large language models (LLMs) with capabilities like structured outputs, retrieval augmented generation (RAG), tool/function calls, and agent automation, incorporating human oversight as needed.
  • Ensure production readiness by creating evaluation processes, measuring quality and costs, handling failure cases, and implementing logging, monitoring, error handling, and recovery procedures.
  • Deploy solutions on managed cloud platforms, prepare thorough documentation, train users, and refine products based on feedback and performance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to spot inefficiencies, set acceptance criteria and metrics, and demonstrate the impact and value of delivered systems.

Candidate Profile

  • No technical background is required; intensive training will be provided to build all necessary technical skills using modern AI-assisted tools.
  • Marketing experience ranging from 2 to 5 years in areas such as growth, lifecycle/CRM, content, performance marketing, or marketing operations, with understanding of campaign workflows and tools.
  • Comfortable with technology and eager to learn coding, debugging, and system ownership.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to decompose complex issues and persist through troubleshooting.
  • Curious about AI and enthusiastic about working with AI coding assistants and LLM-based systems with accountability for output quality.
  • Possesses ownership mentality and effective communication skills to work with multiple stakeholders, document products, and manage projects from conception through operation.

Preferred Additional Skills

  • Hands-on experience managing marketing platforms like CRM, marketing automation, CMS, analytics, or ad systems.
  • Experience with spreadsheet formulas, low-code/no-code automation tools such as Zapier or Make, or basic programming in SQL or Python.
  • Previous completion of marketing engineering courses or personal projects involving automation.

Training Program (First 12 Weeks)

  • Weeks 1-2: Fundamentals of programming and AI-assisted coding, focusing on reading, writing, and debugging code.
  • Weeks 3-4: Web system architecture, API integrations, databases, SQL, and automating data processes.
  • Week 5: Introduction to AI engineering, including LLM APIs, prompt design, retrieval (RAG), and system evaluation techniques.
  • Weeks 6-7: Marketing basics and organizational operations model.
  • Weeks 8-10: Advanced AI systems (RAG, tools, agents), marketing-focused automation engineering, production reliability, and deployment strategies.
  • Weeks 11-12: Capstone deployment sprint, identifying a high-impact marketing challenge, building a solution, and fully delivering it including documentation and handoff.

Success Metrics

  • By week 5 end: capable of creating a functional database application, integrating APIs, debugging, and implementing basic LLM functionality with limited supervision.
  • By week 12 end: successfully deployed a production system with monitoring, documentation, and trained operators that delivers tangible operational improvements.
  • Post-training: ongoing management of multiple marketing automation and AI workflows, continually building a prioritized development roadmap.

Scope of Work

This role encompasses full ownership of marketing automation projects from opportunity identification to deployment and ongoing maintenance. The position focuses on application-level engineering rather than infrastructure areas like networking, Kubernetes, Terraform, or advanced data governance, which are handled by other technical teams.
