About the Role
We are seeking an AI Harness Engineer based in the United Arab Emirates to join a pioneering team focused on creating scalable local AI experiences. This role involves developing the infrastructure and integrations that connect users with advanced AI capabilities locally. Working at the crossroads of AI tooling, agent infrastructure, and peer-to-peer (P2P) technologies, you will contribute to building reusable tools, supporting various AI models, and designing robust systems suited for non-deterministic environments. The position supports a fully remote, internationally distributed team valuing autonomy, experimentation, and ongoing innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver new features and bug fixes prioritizing reliability, performance, and user experience.
- Design and implement reusable software tools, modules, and integrations that enable diverse AI capabilities across different model types and sizes.
- Create and maintain AI agent harnesses, managing tool invocation, agent control loops, context handling, and structured output generation.
- Build evaluation frameworks and testing infrastructures tailored for AI systems exhibiting non-deterministic behavior.
- Develop and advance peer-to-peer technologies to support distributed AI use cases and local AI execution at scale.
- Ensure code quality through adherence to coding standards, thorough code reviews, modular designs, and automated testing strategies.
- Engineer resilient systems capable of handling failures including network disruptions, model errors, timeouts, and retries.
- Develop and maintain reusable npm packages and shared software components for the engineering community.
- Regularly experiment with cutting-edge technologies and methodologies to broaden AI and P2P capabilities.
- Collaborate effectively with a globally dispersed engineering team, clearly communicating complex technical concepts.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of five years’ experience building and maintaining reliable production software systems.
- Proficient in JavaScript and TypeScript, with expertise in modeling complex state management systems such as synchronization protocols and agent loops.
- Demonstrated ability to write modular, maintainable, and reusable code bases.
- Hands-on experience with AI agent harness construction, including tool calling mechanisms, context management, agent loops, and structured output handling.
- Proven experience designing evaluation systems and test suites for AI or complex non-deterministic systems.
- Experience developing and managing reusable npm modules.
- Strong testing and debugging capabilities focused on ensuring reliability in production environments.
- Solid understanding of AI tooling and practical experience using AI development tools.
- Interest or professional background in peer-to-peer networking technologies and distributed system architectures.
- Expertise in building failure-resilient systems that handle network partitions, model errors, timeouts, and retry logic.
- Contributions to open-source projects related to P2P, AI tools, or network technologies are highly valued.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a fully remote, international team setting.
- A proactive, experimental mindset willing to test new ideas, explore emerging tech, and solve challenging problems.
