Role Overview
We seek an AI Engineering Lead to guide a small team of AI developers in building Flutter's enterprise AI assistant and agent platforms. This role combines hands-on AI engineering, architectural oversight, team leadership, and cross-department collaboration to deliver scalable AI services supporting over 20 million customers globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and drive the technical vision for AI assistant and agent platforms with focus areas including LLM inference, agent frameworks, context engineering, and system design.
- Manage deployment and optimization of LLM inference technologies such as AWS Bedrock and LiteLLM, aiming for cost-efficiency, low latency, and operational excellence.
- Architect production-ready context pipelines, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, and prompt engineering with established standards and evaluation methods.
- Balance architectural decisions involving token economics, latency budgets, and capability versus cost analysis.
- Implement robust AI guardrails, security measures, and Responsible AI practices considering regulated markets.
- Evaluate and select agentic frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, Strands, and ADK for scalable orchestration and tooling patterns.
- Drive end-to-end solution delivery, from backend LLM integrations to user-facing APIs and interfaces leveraging AWS services and modern engineering.
- Lead, develop, and mentor a team of 2-3 AI developers, fostering technical growth and coding standards.
- Oversee incident management, technical challenges, and continuous improvement through post-mortems and team guidance.
- Promote a team culture of learning, experimentation, psychological safety, and innovation encouraging calculated risk-taking.
- Collaborate closely with product managers and stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable AI solutions.
- Work alongside data scientists and platform engineers to embed AI functionalities into Flutter's existing infrastructure.
- Communicate complex AI concepts effectively across audiences and influence technical strategies within and beyond the team.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, or a STEM discipline with 8 to 12 years overall software development experience, including at least 2 to 3 years focused on AI/ML or agent development.
- Proven experience leading or mentoring engineering teams and setting technical direction.
- Expertise in Python backend development with production experience in FastAPI, Flask, and asynchronous programming models.
- Practical knowledge of LLM inference platforms (AWS Bedrock, LiteLLM), including aspects like model routing, API design, cost optimization, and deployment.
- Experience with context engineering, RAG methodologies, prompt architectures, and evaluating production trade-offs.
- Hands-on experience with multiple agentic frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, Strands, ADK, or CrewAI, including orchestration and multi-agent systems.
- Skilled in implementing AI guardrails and responsible AI measures, including security concerns like prompt injection, data leakage, and access control in regulated environments.
- Familiar with AI security fundamentals: OAuth, JWT, least privilege principles.
- Competent with AI coding assistance tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and OpenCode, and capable of validating and mentoring usage of AI-generated code.
- Strong foundation in software engineering principles including SDLC, Git version control, API design, architecture, and collaborative engineering practices.
- Excellent communication and influence capabilities, able to distill complex technical details to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and lead without formal authority.
Desirable Additional Competencies
- Full-stack development experience with React, TypeScript, backend integrations, and AI implementations.
- Experience architecting and operating production RAG systems and vector databases such as Pinecone, pgvector, OpenSearch, or Weaviate.
- Knowledge of Model Context Protocol (MCP) used in AI agent systems.
- Contributions to open-source AI/ML or agentic platforms like LangChain or CrewAI.
- Experience working in regulated sectors like gaming, sports betting, or financial services.
- Track record of growing engineering talent, leading impactful technical projects, and fostering high-performance teams.
- A passion for emerging AI technologies and formulating informed strategic technology choices.
Employee Benefits
- Access to learning platforms like Learnerbly and Udemy, and a personal development fund for upskilling.
- Internal mobility programs to support career advancement.
- Comprehensive health insurance covering you and dependents, including OPD consultations and annual health checkups.
- Wellbeing initiatives including wellness funds and 24x7 assistance programs.
- A hybrid work model with two days per week in the office and flexible leaves including maternity, paternity, and sabbaticals.
- Free meals, cab allowance, and home office setup support.
- Employer contributions to Provident Fund, gratuity, personal accident, and life insurance policies.
- Sharesave plans for purchasing company shares at discounted rates.
- Volunteering leave and team-building events.
- Recognition via internal Kudos platform and referral incentives.
