AI Engineer – Open-Source Large Language Model Adaptation (m/f/d)

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive AI engineer specialized in adapting open-source Large Language Models (LLMs) to empower platforms such as tax advisory teams in developing and managing their own tailored AI models.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, customize, and assess open-source LLMs like Llama, Mistral, and Qwen for specific domains including tax, accounting, and advisory processes.
• Develop reusable data processing, fine-tuning (using techniques such as LoRA/QLoRA), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and model evaluation pipelines deployable across different platforms.
• Implement and operate AI models within sovereign, GDPR-compliant infrastructure ensuring confidentiality standards vital to regulated professions are met from the outset.
• Collaborate closely with platform managers and domain specialists to translate actual workflows into functional AI solutions.
• Support platform teams in independently maintaining and advancing their AI models.

Candidate Profile

• Several years of proven experience in training, fine-tuning, or deploying large language models in live environments.
• Advanced proficiency in Python along with practical experience using PyTorch, Hugging Face, vLLM, or equivalent AI frameworks.
• A strong grasp of MLOps principles, GPU infrastructure management, and objective model evaluation techniques.
• A builder’s mentality, thriving on quickly transitioning from prototypes to fully operational products.
• Fluent in English, with German language skills considered a substantial advantage.
