Role Overview

This position combines AI engineering with product development responsibilities. You will collaborate closely with company founders to design, develop, and deliver AI-driven features that truly address customer needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and implement large language model (LLM) applications using frameworks such as Langchain and LangGraph, ensuring robustness and production readiness.
• Rapidly prototype and test various model techniques and system architectures to validate concepts before production deployment.
• Participate in product design alongside founders, from feature scoping to architectural decision-making, shipping backend and API functionalities.
• Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of AI systems, including dataset construction, evaluation strategy, model orchestration, deployment, and ongoing monitoring.
• Develop backend components and product features, handling inference services, data pipelines, APIs, and application logic.
• Utilize primarily Typescript for production workloads and Python for prototyping within Hex notebooks.
• Collaborate across product and engineering teams to create AI-enhanced experiences that are efficient, reliable, and cost-efficient.
• Keep updated on the latest in LLM and AI tool advancements, integrating new methods to improve customer solutions and product offerings.
• Contribute to technical strategy and infrastructure decisions, focusing on scalability and ethical AI practices.
• Maintain and optimize live AI systems for reliability, visibility, and continuous enhancement.

Technology Stack

• Langchain and LangGraph (Typescript/Python) deployed using ECS & Lambda
• Langsmith platform for dataset management, evaluations, and experiments
• Hex for rapid prototyping and notebook development

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Strong software engineering foundation, particularly in backend or full stack development, with the ability to integrate AI concepts into workflows.
• Proficiency in Typescript and Python is essential, favoring Typescript for production and Python for notebook-based prototyping.
• Hands-on experience deploying LLM applications with Langchain, LangGraph, or analogous frameworks.
• Ability to design evaluation mechanisms for LLM systems, including managing datasets, experiment tracking, and measuring performance.
• Experience in maintaining LLM-powered applications in production settings with a focus on monitoring, debugging, reliability, and cost optimization.
• Knowledge of AWS infrastructure such as ECS, Lambda, and related services to support deployment and operations.
• Entrepreneurial mindset demonstrating focus, resilience, and a results-driven approach with adaptability in fast-paced environments.
• Strong analytical aptitude and enthusiasm for tackling ambiguous problems using data.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual salary range of $120,000 to $170,000 plus superannuation (subject to experience)
• Allowance provided for computer equipment to enable effective remote work
