AI Data Scientist

Role Overview

At Cubist’s Data Services (CDS) group, we are deeply committed to harnessing data to craft refined, efficient, and scalable predictive solutions for finance. We seek an AI Data Scientist to join our specialized data team responsible for delivering accurate, comprehensive data to leading systematic Portfolio Managers globally.

Key Responsibilities

• Create AI-driven data products utilizing machine learning models, large language models (LLMs), and state-of-the-art AI technologies.
• Design, train, fine-tune, assess, and deploy proprietary AI/ML models using both internal and external datasets.
• Build complete model pipelines encompassing data preparation, feature engineering, training, validation, deployment, and subsequent monitoring.
• Employ generative AI and LLM approaches for various applications including summarization, classification, knowledge extraction, semantic search, and automation of workflows.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams to translate complex business challenges into scalable AI-based solutions.
• Assess and incorporate third-party AI tools, APIs, open-source frameworks, and in-house models where suitable.
• Develop data pipelines and model workflows handling both structured and unstructured data forms.
• Establish model evaluation criteria, conduct experiments, perform error analyses, and relentlessly enhance model performance.
• Assist in deploying AI models in production environments while ensuring their reliability, scalability, governance adherence, and responsible AI practices.

Candidate Requirements

• Doctorate degree in Computer Science focusing on AI or machine learning related fields.
• Proficient programming capabilities in Python and SQL.
• A strong record of publications in leading machine learning conferences.
• At least three years of experience in data science or a comparable role.
• Demonstrated ability to work with extensive datasets, including predictive modeling tasks.
• Prior financial industry experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
