Role Overview

The Aerodynamics Engineer in Abu Dhabi will focus on the aerodynamic design and analytical tasks related to gas turbine turbomachinery in turbojet and turbofan development projects. This position demands specialized expertise in gas turbine propulsion, effective project planning, and mentoring capabilities.

Key Duties

• Execute aerodynamic design and analysis for gas turbine turbomachinery.
• Conduct both design and off-design performance evaluations, analyze engine test data, and interface with stakeholders internally and externally.
• Lead technical aspects of engine architecture research.
• Create and enhance numerical and experimental tools for validation purposes.
• Set and track individual and team performance goals, delivering constructive feedback.
• Critically review designs, perform simulations, and draft testing protocols.
• Identify and manage project risks with appropriate mitigation strategies.

Qualifications and Expertise

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Deep knowledge in gas turbine propulsion, turbomachinery design, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
• Practical experience in axial and centrifugal compressor and turbine design plus optimization for gas turbine systems.
• Additional skills in unsteady modeling, bleed flow analysis, compressor stability, casing treatment, and sub-idle modeling are advantageous.
• Proficiency in English communication.
• 5 to 15 years or more of relevant professional experience.

Technical Skills

• Expertise in commercial turbomachinery software like Concepts NREC, AxStream, or equivalents.
• Experience with CFD and through-flow simulation tools such as Ansys CFX, Numeca/Cadence, Fluent.
• Knowledge of multi-point and multidisciplinary optimization techniques.
• Proficient programming in languages like C, Matlab/Simulink, or similar platforms.
• Exposure to cooling technologies and coatings for turbines.
