Job description
Position Overview
This role invites an experienced Advisor Wellbeing Support to join our team serving customers and their whānau across the Hawke's Bay region, including Napier, Hastings, and Central Hawke's Bay. The work focuses on mental health, addiction, family harm, and social wellbeing, aiming to help individuals facing complex challenges.
Role Responsibilities
- Apply your expertise in mental health, wellbeing, and social services to assist whānau experiencing multifaceted difficulties.
- Engage and strengthen local stakeholder and community partnerships to effect sustainable positive change throughout the Hawke's Bay region.
- Collaborate closely with Housing Support Managers by providing specialist advice on challenging client cases, conducting case reviews, facilitating reflective practice sessions, and fostering professional development through joint problem-solving.
- Support and enhance the capability of Housing Support teams by offering coaching, guidance, and connecting clients with suitable intervention pathways and community resources.
- Regularly travel across Napier, Hastings, and Central Hawke's Bay to participate in stakeholder events and maintain strong community networks enhancing wellbeing outcomes.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience working with individuals and families facing complex wellbeing issues such as mental health problems, addiction, family violence, housing instability, or crisis scenarios.
- Demonstrated ability to support frontline practitioners through reflective practice, case reviews, and professional coaching, aiding managers in managing complex client situations effectively.
- Comprehensive knowledge of mental health and social service sectors, including awareness of support systems, referral options, and community-based service availability.
- Extensive and established networks with stakeholders, external agencies, iwi, hapū, health providers, and community organisations, showing skill in building and sustaining trusted relationships.
- Strong advocacy, collaboration, and influence skills to coordinate multi-agency efforts focused on positive client and whānau outcomes.
- Experience mentoring or coaching staff in responding appropriately to complex wellbeing and client concerns.
- Demonstrated cultural competence with particular respect and understanding for Māori and Pasifika communities.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building capabilities, coupled with an empathetic, strengths-based approach.
- Preferred backgrounds include mental health, addiction services, social work, community services, family violence prevention, housing support, corrections, nursing, counselling, or psychology.
- Valid, full, and clean New Zealand Driver Licence with willingness for consistent regional travel within Hawke's Bay.
