Role Overview

Aviva is seeking an experienced actuarial leader to oversee and guide a team responsible for delivering precise actuarial reports across various financial and regulatory standards such as Solvency II and IFRS. This senior position involves ensuring the reliability, accuracy, and punctual submission of actuarial deliverables that underpin business decision-making, regulatory adherence, and financial disclosures. The role requires driving enhancements in processes, enforcing strong controls, advocating automation, and influencing the strategic development of the actuarial division.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of around six actuaries, fostering a collaborative and high-achieving culture centered on personal growth, accountability, and operational excellence.
  • Manage the execution of liability assessments, capital evaluations, stress testing, actuarial assumptions, and regulatory reporting under IFRS and Solvency II frameworks with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Promote ongoing process optimization by streamlining reporting workflows, reducing dependency on manual computing tools, advancing automation, and instituting strong governance and control frameworks.
  • Collaborate with critical stakeholders including Reporting Analysis & Insight, Finance, IT, Audit, and the broader Actuarial Function to supply superior actuarial data and insights to support business needs.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Qualified Actuary with significant post-qualification experience and specialist knowledge of actuarial reporting within the life insurance or financial services sectors.
  • Deep familiarity with Solvency II regulations, IFRS reporting standards, capital modeling techniques, liability valuation methods, and regulatory reporting obligations.
  • Established leadership skills with proven track record of managing diverse teams, prioritizing competing tasks effectively, and influencing multiple stakeholders.
  • Successful delivery of process efficiency projects, automation, and improvements within controlled reporting environments.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and commercial acumen with the capability to distill complex actuarial concepts into accessible insights for technical and non-technical audiences alike.

Compensation and Benefits
