About the Role

Kasturi Hardware And Paints seeks an experienced Accountant to manage the accounting operations of their retail shop in Pune, Maharashtra. This position requires hands-on accounting in a retail/shop counter environment, maintaining day-to-day financial records and reconciliations using Tally software.

Daily Duties

• Record every bill generated at the counter immediately in Tally with no backlog.
• Enter all inward purchase transactions, including accounts payable truck receipts and dealer purchases, on the day they are received.
• Reconcile daily cash collections against Tally sales before leaving for the day.
• Reconcile UPI and soundbox payment receipts against Tally records each evening.
• Maintain credit ledgers for contractors by tracking every receipt, outstanding amount, and flagging overdue payments.
• Send a concise daily report via WhatsApp to the owner summarizing total sales, cash collected, UPI collections, outstanding amounts, and any discrepancies.

Weekly Responsibilities

• Prepare and update a weekly outstanding report indicating debtors, amounts owed, and duration outstanding.
• Perform follow-ups on overdue contractor accounts through WhatsApp or phone calls.
• Reconcile Tally bank transactions with the shop’s actual bank statement to ensure alignment.
• Verify stock entries by cross-checking Tally inward records against the manager’s GRN (Goods Receipt Note) register.

Monthly Tasks

• Complete monthly Tally closing activities including sales, purchases, expenses, and cash book entries.
• Generate a simple profit and loss summary report for the owner’s review.
• Provide all GST-related data to the Chartered Accountant timely, ensuring GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B input data is ready (filing is not the responsibility of this role).
• Reconcile ledger entries with Asian Paints statements.

Mandatory Qualifications and Experience

• At least 2 years of hands-on experience using Tally Prime in a live business environment (not in training or junior roles).
• Previous work experience in a retail shop, distributor, or trading firm setting—not in manufacturing or corporate offices.
• Basic understanding of GST concepts related to trading businesses including input tax credit, output tax, and ITC.
• Fluency in Marathi or Hindi to communicate effectively with shop staff and managers.
• Ability to work independently without daily supervision from the owner.

Preferred Skills

• Experience working in paint, hardware, building materials, or FMCG distribution sectors.
• Proven track record managing contractor or dealer outstanding ledgers.
• Familiarity with matching physical goods received against purchase invoices.

Unsuitable Candidates

• Candidates whose experience is limited to payroll, HR, or manufacturing accounts.
• Those who require daily step-by-step guidance for data entry.
• People expecting a strict 9-to-5 role with carryover work are not suited.
• Applicants who have no prior exposure to retail, trading, or distribution environments.
