About the Role
Join our Tax department as an Accountant and become part of a knowledgeable team that provides tailored tax solutions within a complex and evolving regulatory environment. As a reliable advisor, you will craft strategies that ensure compliance with reporting requirements, reduce risks, enhance efficiency, and optimize client returns.

Responsibilities
- Support tax engagements by calculating tax liabilities, preparing personal and corporate tax returns and related compliance documentation, including year-end tax forms such as T4s and T5s, and reviewing share capital calculations.
- Establish client files for new customers and newly established businesses.
- Analyze legal documents including articles of incorporation and various business agreements like purchase and amalgamation agreements.
- Assess current business policies and procedures to suggest updates and ensure alignment with tax regulations; devise proactive tax strategies to leverage business opportunities effectively.
- Identify and investigate discrepancies or errors, collaborating with managers or engagement partners to resolve issues.
- Communicate with clients and government authorities to address tax compliance matters.
- Assist in preparing correspondence, technical reports, client summaries, and presentations that summarize engagement outcomes and key points.
- Work closely with the client engagement team to foster strong relationships with client contacts.
- Contribute ideas and novel methods to improve work processes continuously.
- Remain adaptable to travel requirements as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
- Possession of a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration, preferably with a focus on accounting or finance.
- Currently enrolled in the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP).
- Between one and two years of relevant experience in public accounting or tax services.
- Familiarity with Canadian Income Tax Act provisions.
- Preferred experience using accounting and tax software applications.
