About the Role
We are seeking a diligent and experienced Accountant to oversee the daily financial records of our NGO and serve as the key liaison between the organization and the Chartered Accountant (CA). The successful candidate will ensure accurate bookkeeping, preparation of financial documentation, and smooth coordination with the CA for compliance and auditing matters.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain day-to-day accounting records including cash books, bank books, ledgers, journals, and vouchers.
- Record all financial transactions such as receipts, payments, donations, and expenses promptly and accurately.
- Prepare and verify financial documents like payment vouchers, invoices, bills, receipts, and expense claims.
- Perform regular reconciliations of bank and ledger accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Maintain organized filing and documentation for all financial processes.
- Monitor accounts payable and receivable diligently.
- Keep records of fixed assets and inventory updated.
- Compile monthly financial statements and management information system (MIS) reports.
- Coordinate closely with the Chartered Accountant firm by timely sharing accounting data, bank statements, invoices, and other relevant documents.
- Assist in statutory compliance including TDS, income tax, audits, and other regulatory filings by following up with the CA and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Manage the annual statutory audit process by providing necessary documents and information.
- Address queries from the CA and coordinate clarifications with management.
- Review financial reports, reconciliations, and statements from the CA before presenting them to management.
- Maintain a compliance calendar to track and meet all statutory deadlines.
- Generate project-wise and budget-wise expenditure reports for management review.
- Highlight any irregularities, discrepancies, or pending payments to management promptly.
- Support budgeting, cash flow planning, and financial analysis efforts as required.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and integrity regarding all financial data and organizational information.
Qualifications and Experience
- Hold a B.Com, M.Com, CA Intermediate, or an equivalent qualification.
- Possess between 1 to 5 years of relevant accounting work experience.
- Experience working within NGOs, trusts, societies, Section 8 companies, or similar non-profit organizations is desirable.
- Strong proficiency in Tally/ERP software and Microsoft Excel.
- Thorough understanding of accounting principles and financial documentation standards.
- Familiarity with GST, TDS, income tax, audit procedures, and other statutory compliance requirements specific to India.
- Prior experience in coordinating with a Chartered Accountant or CA firm is highly favored.
