Role Overview
The Accountant position is a permanent, on-location role in Port Louis responsible for overseeing daily financial and accounting operations. Key duties include posting and reconciling transactions, maintaining the general ledger, and assisting in the preparation of financial reports on monthly, quarterly, and annual bases. The incumbent will handle accounts payable and receivable, monitor cash flows, support budgeting activities, comply with audit standards, and prepare necessary tax documentation. Coordination with various departments will be essential to ensure accuracy in financial records and prompt decision support.
Qualifications and Skills
- Demonstrated expertise in accounting principles, ledger management, and financial reporting to generate precise and timely statements.
- Experience managing accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, cash flow tracking, and month-end closure procedures.
- Proficient in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel functions including formulas and pivot tables.
- Knowledgeable of tax laws, compliance standards, and audit preparations with the ability to compile related documentation.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities with a meticulous approach to accuracy.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, and an aptitude for collaboration within cross-disciplinary on-site teams.
- Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related disciplines; professional certifications such as ACCA or CPA are advantageous.
- Previous experience in accounting or finance roles, ideally within corporate or group structure settings.

Bachelor's Degree
