About the Role and Industry
This opportunity is with a company operating in the plastic raw material trading sector, based in Mumbai. The ideal candidate will possess 2 to 5 years of experience in accounts and finance, especially within Import/Export or Trading environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily accounting tasks including recording sales, purchases, receipts, payments, and handling bank and journal entries.
- Maintain accurate ledgers for customers and suppliers, regularly reconciling accounts.
- Manage GST-related accounting processes such as reconciliations, documentation, and filing GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B returns, along with input tax credit reconciliation.
- Calculate, deduct, pay, and file returns related to TDS, ensuring proper record maintenance.
- Oversee accounting for imports including supplier invoices, freight charges, customs duty, IGST, CHA/CFS fees, and other related import expenses.
- Maintain and reconcile Bill of Entry records with accounting books.
- Coordinate with banks concerning foreign currency payments, telegraphic transfers, remittances, and documentation for import payments.
- Track advance payments made to overseas suppliers, manage outstanding balances, and monitor payment due dates.
- Monitor foreign exchange rates and calculate gains or losses arising from exchange differences.
- Prepare shipment-wise landed cost analysis for imported plastic raw materials.
- Perform reconciliation for bank accounts, GST, TDS, supplier and customer accounts.
- Collaborate with Chartered Accountants, auditors, banks, CHA, and other consultants to ensure accounting and compliance requirements are met.
- Maintain thorough documentation including invoices, Bill of Entry, payment records, GST/TDS documentation, and other statutory compliance files.
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports to assist management oversight.
- Ensure timely adherence to all accounting and statutory compliance tasks.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- 2 to 5 years of experience within accounts and finance roles, preferably in Import/Export or trading companies.
- Comprehensive knowledge of GST, TDS, daily accounting operations, and bank reconciliations.
- Experience handling import accounting, including Bill of Entry and foreign currency transactions.
- Proficient in usage of Tally or ERP software and Microsoft Excel.
- Practical exposure to GST reconciliation, TDS returns, and supplier/customer account reconciliation.
- Familiarity with foreign exchange dealings and overseas supplier payments.
- Experience in sectors like plastic, polymer, chemical, or commodity trading is a plus.
- Demonstrated strong attention to detail, excellent follow-up capability, and ability to independently manage day-to-day accounting activities.
