Job Overview
The Academic Affairs Officer at Palm University College is responsible for ensuring the university's mission is effectively fulfilled by overseeing academic departments and programs. This role supports curriculum development, faculty recruitment, research initiatives, and teaching excellence, aiming to foster an innovative environment where students can develop leadership qualities grounded in integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain strong, positive relationships with students and staff to drive the university's mission.
- Collaborate with leadership to maintain academic systems and resolve organizational challenges.
- Ensure alignment of all programs and personnel with Palm University College's objectives.
- Oversee professional development for faculty members within the institution.
- Implement internal monitoring to uphold the institution’s educational goals.
- Lead the planning and execution of academic targets and resource distribution across departments and support services.
- Serve as the main link between student progress and new program rollouts.
- Develop policies supporting student life and career services initiatives.
- Manage student-related activities including conduct, housing, and residence life.
- Provide academic guidance on course selection, academic planning, and issue resolution.
- Connect students with pertinent support such as tutoring, counseling, and career services.
- Monitor academic progress, detect potential setbacks, and implement interventions as needed.
- Ensure institutional compliance with academic policies on attendance, integrity, and grading.
- Support curriculum development, review, and evaluation efforts.
- Manage accurate academic records and student transcripts.
- Facilitate communication between faculty and students, addressing concerns effectively.
- Assist faculty professional development activities.
- Organize academic events including orientations, workshops, and seminars.
- Manage allocation and usage of academic resources like classrooms, labs, and libraries.
- Promote a positive, supportive learning atmosphere encouraging student involvement in extracurricular and academic clubs.
- Analyze and report on student performance metrics, enrollment trends, and related data for academic leadership.
Qualifications and Experience
- At least 1-2 years’ managerial experience in academic affairs or related higher education enrollment management.
- Possession of a master's degree.
- Strong research capabilities combined with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and insistence on data accuracy.
- Familiarity with student information systems and experience developing reports, budgets, and handling student records regulations.
- Proven ability to manage complex academic operations and systems effectively.
