Purpose of the Role

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating, planning, executing, and monitoring various projects within the department, including Capital projects, Variation Notices, Wayleaves Applications, and Internal projects. The role ensures that all projects meet safety, quality, performance, and delivery objectives, while adhering to regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Additionally, the Project Coordinator will oversee the handover of completed projects to the operational and maintenance teams, ensuring seamless integration into existing infrastructure.

This position provides the opportunity for career progression within project management while working with government agencies, suppliers, and internal teams to enhance Gautrain’s operational excellence.

Primary Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution (Aligned with PMBOK)

  • Initiation: Define project scope, objectives, stakeholders, and feasibility.
  • Planning: Develop a comprehensive project plan covering scope, schedule, cost, quality, resources, communication, risk, and procurement management.
  • Execution: Implement project plans by managing resources, stakeholder engagement, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Monitoring & Controlling: Track project performance, manage changes, conduct audits, and resolve issues to keep projects within scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Closing: Conduct final inspections, ensure documentation is complete, obtain stakeholder sign-off, and formally hand over the project to operations and maintenance.
  • Ensure all project activities comply with PMBOK project lifecycle guidelines, including risk and quality management frameworks.
  • Lead and participate in incident investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Participate in Revenue Enhancement projects aligned with business objectives.

Compliance & Quality Control

  • Ensure all safety protocols are adhered to in project execution.
  • Conduct regular supplier and contractor audits to maintain quality.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance and quality control procedures.
  • Ensure supplier/contractors updates as-builts drawings post-project completion.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and records for compliance tracking.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Liaise with the Maintenance Division Units regarding project progress and completion.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for vendors and subcontractors, ensuring contract compliance.
  • Participate in procurement and finance processes related to projects.
  • Collaborate with government bodies and regulatory authorities for wayleave applications.
  • Ensure timely handover of maintainable new projects to Operations Maintenance Units.

Profil de candidat recherché :

Educational Level

  • B. Tech in Civil or Electrical Engineering
  • Project Management Certification will be advantageous
  • Safety Management training beneficial

Technical Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in managing infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of project planning, monitoring, and compliance regulations.
  • Construction experience with an emphasis on Civil and Electrical design & installation.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (essential) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and procurement processes
