Position Overview

As the Accounting Manager, you will be a key leader within the Finance Department, responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of monthly financial reports and overseeing cash management and banking responsibilities. You will coach and mentor a dedicated team, improve accounting processes, and help ensure the organization’s compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the Finance Team (including Payroll Coordinator, Staff Accountant, and Accounts Payable/Receivable Coordinators) to ensure smooth and accurate financial operations.
  • Oversee general ledger activities, reconciliation processes, and prepare for external audits.
  • Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with budgetary constraints.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance to managers and staff, assisting with budgeting, financial reports, and internal controls.
  • Manage cash and banking activities, including approving and reviewing transactions.
  • Ensure the accuracy of monthly revenue reconciliation with the Development team.
  • Oversee payroll, benefits, insurance, 403(b) accounting, and other financial entries.

What We’re Looking For

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Accounting or Finance.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in accounting, with 2-3 years in a management role.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • In-depth knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, financial reporting, and internal controls.
    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
    • Proficiency in Excel, MS Word, and Financial ERP systems such as Sage Intacct.
  • Certifications: CPA preferred (but not required).
  • Background Checks: Must successfully complete CANTS, LEADS, and State Police checks.
