Interested in making a difference in how victims of crime are supported through the Queensland Government’s priorities? Victim Support Reform is seeking a senior officer experienced in leading project teams to design, deliver and implement significant reform projects and initiatives in the victim support portfolio. You will deliver outcomes that ensure victim support reforms are responsive to the needs of Queensland victims of crime and their families.

As Director Victim Support Reform, you will use your proven leadership in project management and delivery combined with your skills in relationship building, effective communication and consultation experience with a variety of government, nongovernment, independent organisations and advocacy groups to ensure design and delivery of significant victim support reforms for Queensland.

As Part Of The Department Of Youth Justice And Victim Support, The Newly Formed Victim Support Division Leads The Development Of The Queensland Government’s Victim Support Reforms And Commitments, Including To

  • Ensure that victims of crime from across Queensland are appropriately and proactively supported and provided with the upmost support and humanity.
  • Design and deliver a professional victim advocacy service for victims of crime in Queensland, in consultation with key stakeholders and victims to ensure it is practical and makes a real difference.
  • Explore place-based models of trauma recovery and healing.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Senior Executive Director Victim Support, as Director Victim Support Reform you will specifically:

  • Lead the Victim Support Reform team to develop of reform projects to deliver on the Queensland Government’s priorities to ensure victims of crime are well supported.
  • Provide strategic and authoritative advice to senior management on a broad range of victim support issues and opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong and effective relationships with government agencies, independent bodies, non-government organisations and advocacy groups to design, implement and deliver effective victim support reforms.
  • Manage complex projects through project management approaches in relation to victim support reforms, including the investigation of different models of support for victims of crime.
  • Prepare and coordinate submissions, reports, Program Board papers, governance committee briefs, executive briefs and other correspondence on victim support matters
  • Represent the Department in high level negotiations and discussions with senior management of external agencies around the victim support agenda.
