Job Overview
The Photo Art Director Resident participates in Macy’s 2025 Photo Content Studio Summer Residency, an 8-week, full-time paid program. This role provides hands-on experience in all aspects of photo art direction and production. The resident works in person at Macy’s Long Island City Photo and Content Studios. Please note that housing and transportation are not included.
The resident collaborates with both Fashion and Still Life Art Directors, contributing to the development of photography concepts that align with Off-Figure and On-Figure Fashion teams. Working closely with the Photo Directing teams, the resident helps bring creative visions to life, ensuring imagery aligns with brand standards and storytelling objectives.
What You Will Do
- Collaborate with Photo Directing teams to develop photography concepts that align with both Off-Figure and On-Figure Fashion offices.
- Assist the Photo Director on set during shoots.
- Participate in pre-production meetings and review merchandise to prepare for upcoming projects.
- Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
- In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.
Skills You Will Need
Creative Collaboration – Works effectively with Photo Directing teams, Art Directors, and Fashion teams to develop and execute photography concepts.
Strong Communication – Clearly conveys ideas and collaborates seamlessly with cross-functional teams.
Photography Knowledge – Understands photography trends, talent, techniques, and industry standards.
Technical Proficiency – Familiarity with digital photography, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe XD.
Time Management & Multitasking – Manages multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
Attention to Detail – Ensures imagery aligns with brand standards and storytelling objectives.
Reliability & Professionalism – Punctual, dependable, and able to follow through on assigned tasks.
Adaptability & Problem-Solving – Thrives under pressure and quickly adjusts to changing creative needs.
Who You Are
- Candidates currently enrolled in an accredited four-year institution with a GPA of 3.0 or higher are encouraged to apply.
- Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
- Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
