Position Overview

The Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for supporting various HR functions across the employee lifecycle, with an initial focus on onboarding and expanding into additional HR specialties over time. This role is designed for professionals who are eager to develop expertise in multiple areas of HR, ensuring full cross-training across the department.

HR Generalists in this role will specialize in specific areas, such as talent acquisition, benefits administration, payroll, compliance, employee relations, and HR technology, while also receiving training in all HR disciplines. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain well-rounded experience in HR operations within a fast-growing, remote-first company.

Key Responsibilities (Describe each of the essential functions of the role below)

  • Onboarding & Offboarding: Ensure a seamless experience for new hires and exiting employees, including background checks, orientation, paperwork, and system access
  • Payroll Administration: Assist with payroll processing, including employee changes, time tracking, and compliance with state and federal laws
  • Benefits Administration: Support open enrollment, manage benefits inquiries, and coordinate with vendors to ensure employee access to benefits programs
  • Employee Relations & Compliance: Address HR-related concerns, ensure compliance with employment laws, and assist with investigations as needed
  • Unemployment account management
  • Leave management
  • HRIS & Data Management: Maintain accurate employee records in HR systems, generate reports, and support HR analytics.
  • Performance Management: Assist in developing performance review processes and support leadership in coaching and feedback initiatives
  • Talent Acquisition & Recruiting: Support hiring managers with job postings, interview coordination, and candidate communication
  • Training & Development: Assist with the creation and implementation of employee training programs and leadership development initiatives
  • Process Improvement & Automation: Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes and implement technology solutions for efficiency
  • First Stop Health Administration: Support employees in understanding and utilizing First Stop Health services, ensuring smooth coordination and communication regarding telemedicine and mental health resources

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) a plus.

Experience

  • 3-5+ years of experience in HR, with expertise in at least one HR specialty and a willingness to cross-train in additional areas
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paylocity, Workday, or similar) preferred
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws
  • HR Business Partner mindset with experience in employee relations
  • Previous experience with HR onboarding and offboarding processes
