Job Summary
The Sectional Grower is responsible of supporting growing activities for an assigned growing section of the company facilities. The Sectional Grower is also responsible for supervising completion and quality of tasks assigned employees and duties such as but not limited to, irrigation, fertilization, disease and pest control, soil management as well as scheduling duties. This role is also responsible for making and adjusting irrigation based on plant observations, troubleshooting irrigation, and spray equipment, and following Good Agricultural Practices.
Essential Responsibilities
- Support Head Growers and Assistant Growers troubleshooting daily operations issues related to assigned crop(s) and greenhouse(s).
- Partner with Crew Lead to ensure that all operation procedures are carried out to completion (i.e. space planning, crews, etc.)
- Supports the growing staff by ensuring that horticultural activities are carried out as planned. Irrigation, Fertilization, Spraying, Lighting, among others.
- Communicates effectively with operations and production staff regarding loading, crop cultural activities, crop health reports, germ reports and other important crop activities.
- Timely reports any infrastructure or nursery equipment breakdown or deviation of preventative maintenance schedules.
- Participates in inventory exercises regarding growing materials, plants, packaging materials, equipment, and others.
- Coordinate with shipping and logistics fulfillment of loading requests.
- Scouting for insects and disease or any other issues that may affect plant quality at the time of irrigation or chemical treatment.
- Follows proper disinfection of benches, irrigation carts, mowers, and other nursery equipment.
- Assist the head grower and assistant grower staging equipment, materials and requesting labor before nursery/greenhouse activities take place.
- Comply daily with Company’s Injury & Illness Prevention Plan.
- Provide training to new employees to ensure they become familiar with job duties, safety requirements and overall operations procedures.
- Responsible for a Clean and Safe Working Environment
- Responsible for record keeping associated with all areas outlined under Growing Management Department.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
- Performs all duties in accordance with environmental, food safety, safety rules and regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- 3+ Years of experience in Greenhouse Operations or related field
- Experience with fertilizers, chemicals and irrigation activities
- Plant quality advocate

Physical Requirements
While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; frequently required to talk or hear; and occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities by this job include close distance and color vision.
