What You’ll Do

As a Senior Software Engineer at Vial, you will play a key role in designing, building, and scaling the technology that powers our clinical trials platform. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that improve efficiency and effectiveness in drug development. We are looking for individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments, take ownership of their work, and are passionate about leveraging technology to transform biotech.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive architectural decisions and technical strategy to support the scalability and performance of Vial’s platform
  • Build and maintain end-to-end applications using modern frameworks and technologies
  • Write high-quality, well-tested, and maintainable code
  • Collaborate with product, design, and operations teams to develop new features and improve existing ones
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and growth
  • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical decision-making
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and system inefficiencies
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry best practices

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering
  • 4+ years of experience in backend or full-stack development
  • 3+ years of experience with Node.js
  • Proficiency in JavaScript and widely adopted libraries/frameworks (React, Express, etc.)
  • Preference for experience working with one or more of the following: Typescript, Postgresql, Nextjs, Nodejs, Cypress, GCP
  • Strong knowledge of databases and experience designing scalable data models
  • Passion for writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment and take initiative
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or collaboratively as needed
  • Experience in healthcare or clinical trials is a plus
