Mechanical Engineer

Brief description

  • A mechanical engineer is a professional who designs, develops, and tests mechanical devices, machines, and systems.
  • Designing and developing mechanical components and systems, such as engines, machines, and tools, using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Conducting research and analysing data to develop new mechanical designs or improve existing ones.
  • Collaborating with other engineers and professionals, such as electrical engineers, to integrate mechanical systems with other components.
  • Developing and testing prototypes of mechanical systems to ensure that they meet design specifications and perform according to requirements.
  • Managing projects and coordinating with other teams to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Conducting quality control checks and overseeing the manufacturing and assembly of mechanical components and systems.
  • Providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance for mechanical systems in the field.
  • Keeping up to date with new technologies and advances in the field, and participating in ongoing training and professional development.
  • Conducting routine maintenance on vehicles and machinery, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
  • Diagnosing mechanical issues and problems, using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Repairing or replacing damaged or faulty parts and components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspension systems.
  • Conducting safety inspections and ensuring that vehicles and machinery are safe and roadworthy.
  • Keeping accurate records of repairs and maintenance work, including details of parts used, labor costs, and the duration of repairs.
  • Communicating effectively with customers to explain the nature of repairs needed, and providing estimates for the cost of repairs.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area, and following proper safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Keeping up to date with new technologies and advances in the field, and participating in ongoing training and professional development.
  • Follow the policies and procedures set by DAKRI CARTONS LTD Quality Management System [QMS]
  • Abide by Health and Safety Management Systems

Qualifications And Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Courses and training done in a recognised institution
  • You should have a good foundation in maths, science, and English
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the same position

Reporting Lines

  • Maintenance Manager

Working conditions

  • Normal working hours are from 07:00 to 17:00.
  • Required to work on Saturdays and overtime if and when needed.
  • You will undergo employee evaluations on a regular basis, at least once a year. The evaluation typically includes a review of how your various work duties and habits compare with expectations.
