Job Description

Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School (HIES) is seeking a Lower School Visual Arts Teacher. HIES is the largest Episcopal Parish independent day school in the country, serving 1,400 students and offers a fully accredited college preparatory program for students age three through 12th grade. HIES is located north of downtown Atlanta between I-75 and GA 400.

Typical Duties

  • Plan and implement a program of instruction that adheres to the mission of Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School and the Visual Art department’s curriculum objectives.
  • Teach 1st-5th grades in all mediums of art including drawing, painting, ceramics, and printmaking,
  • Collaborate with classroom and specials teachers to tie lessons with what is being taught in homerooms.
  • Ability to operate a kiln.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Lower School Principal or Head of School.

Educational And Other Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Art, Art Education or related field required, Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience working in a lower school art classroom.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • A love of working with lower school students and an ability to create an inclusive, engaging learning environment.
  • Active collaboration with other members of the Visual Arts faculty (PK3-12) along with other members of the Lower School faculty to create cross-curriculum experiences for students.
  • Planning and coordinating display of student artwork on and off campus.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background screening, drug testing and safety training required.
