Job Description
As the Manager of Food Safety and Quality Assurance, you will be the driving force behind Marco’s food safety and quality strategy. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing food safety programs, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards, and collaborating with key stakeholders to continuously improve processes. From supplier audits to product quality investigations, your expertise will be critical in protecting our brand and ensuring the highest level of food safety across our network.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and oversee all food safety audit programs for Marco’s suppliers and distributors.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory activities related to food safety and product quality through site visits, supplier communications, and leadership engagement.
- Assess, plan, and implement programs to meet regulatory compliance with FDA, USDA, and industry standards (GMP, HACCP, FSMA 204, SSOP).
- Develop and maintain food ingredient specifications, ensuring adherence through periodic quality checks and supplier audits.
- Investigate, track, and resolve product quality failure complaints with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain, Culinary, and Operations teams to ensure new recipes, ingredients, and suppliers meet safety and quality standards.
- Oversee ingredient and recipe specifications, nutritional information, and allergen labeling.
- Monitor emerging food safety issues and regulatory risks, proactively implementing necessary actions.
- Lead response efforts for food safety concerns, product quality issues, and foodborne illness investigations.
- Manage supplier performance tracking, ensuring compliance with standards and continuous improvement.
What We’re Looking For
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 5+ years of food industry experience with a strong emphasis on quality assurance, food safety, HACCP compliance, and auditing.
- Expert knowledge of food safety regulations (GMP, HACCP, SSOP, FSMA 204, USDA, FDA).
