Job Description
Join our team as an Aquaculture Technician at Onda, where you will play a pivotal role in monitoring and ensuring the health and wellbeing of our aquatic animals. Your responsibilities will extend to maintaining the security and integrity of the facility and its equipment. This vital position supports our Operations Department, which is integral to our business’s husbandry maintenance and supply chain functions.
Key Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Planning: Execute the plan as outlined by the aquaculture supervisor, ensuring adherence to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and protocols.
- Stockholding & Trial Support: Manage room turnovers, setup, and prompt removal of moribund fish as required by Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS).
- Husbandry: Provide support for aquatic animals, including tank cleaning and feeding, as per supervisor guidelines.
- Maintenance: Assist with minor repairs and maintenance tasks to support continuous facility operation.
- Support Research Associates: Assist with tasks like labeling, data entry, and conducting nightly health checks on aquatic animals.
- Facility Cleaning: Maintain cleanliness in office areas, washrooms, lunchroom, and ante rooms.
- RAS Operation: Monitor and ensure the efficient operation of RAS units and all mechanical equipment.
- Data and Reporting: Ensure accurate logging of daily information, maintaining high data integrity and reliability.
- Systems and Operations: Adhere to operational standards and quality policies, promoting a culture of excellent regulatory compliance.
Essential skills/ experience/ competencies:
- Willingness to learn new skills and to perform routine and repetitive tasks.
- Ability to work as part of a team in compliance with facility standard operating procedures.
- Physically able to handle tasks that could include lifting (up to 50 Lbs.), bending and walking.
- Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to think creatively and solve problems.
- Fosters a positive work environment congruent with the company values and
- Aquaculture experience is considered an asset but not required.
- Must be eligible to work in Canada.
