Position Summary
The Assistant Controller is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the organization’s financial records. This position manages month-end close processes, oversees accounts payable and receivable, and prepares financial reports. Collaborating with the Vice President of Accounting & Finance, the Assistant Controller will also focus on budgeting, forecasting, and compliance audits. Strong knowledge of financial regulations and exceptional analytical skills are crucial for delivering insights that drive strategic decision-making.
Role And Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the Accounting and Finance function.
- Direct and coordinate financial planning and budget management across departments.
- Recommend benchmarks for evaluating financial and operational performance.
- Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget expectations.
- Manage financial operations for international entities, developing relevant policies and procedures.
- Prepare financial outlooks and forecasts.
- Conduct financial analysis to support contract negotiations and investment decisions.
- Collaborate with department heads to provide financial insights that inform strategic planning.
- Assist in preparing annual reports for regulatory agencies.
- Lead financial audits and propose procedural enhancements.
- Act as the primary legislative liaison for financial matters.
- Coordinate debt financing and service payments with external agencies.
- Prepare the official annual report detailing revenues, transfers, and expenses.
- Consult with government, licensing, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance.
- Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal budgetary reporting requirements.
- Document and organize financial policies and procedures.
- Develop strategic plans for the organization.
- Collaborate with leadership to formulate five- and ten-year business plans.
- Work with various departments to maintain consistent processes and standards in financial operations.
- Represent the Group at community, state, and national events, fostering partnerships with industry and educational institutions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications And Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- 5-7+ years of experience in a related field; higher education experience is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and quantitative/qualitative analysis skills.
- Ability to develop operating and capital budgets.

- High degree of integrity and compliance with policies and regulations.

All new hires are required to attend New Collaborator Orientation (NCO) in Salt Lake City, Utah. The College will pay for travel and lodging accommodations.
