About the Role

In this role, you will support the FM team in ensuring that arrangements are in place to implement the company’s quality, health, safety and environmental management processes to meet the client contractual requirements and local laws and regulatory provisions.

You will ensure that safe systems of work and fire safety procedures are developed, implemented and maintained for all activities undertaken.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of Safe Systems of Work across the malls, in collaboration with the FM team, to ensure that contractor and sub-contractor activities are being adequately managed, including risk assessments, method statements, and safety work permits.
  • Ensure that implementation and application of the company’s policies, processes and procedures are subject to regular monitoring and review to verify compliance and that stated policy objectives are being achieved.
  • Provide advice and support to the FM team and client regarding the identification of significant hazards existing within malls and arising from the delivery of facilities management hard and soft services, including subcontractor activities.
  • Provide advice and support regarding the risk assessment of all identified hazards and in determining appropriate risk reduction and control measures.
  • Support and advise FM team on adequate fire management, fire/emergency evacuation procedures, and arrangements and ensure suitable first aid facilities are in place at all times in malls. These should meet local regulations as a minimum but aim for NFPA standards where possible.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, monitoring and review of yearly quality, health, safety, and environmental plans and associated objectives and targets.
  • Monitor and review quality, health, safety and environmental (QHSE) performance indicators and trends, and provide regular reports and updates to the Account manager.
  • Liaise with the client’s HSE Advisor on QHSE procedures, project safety matters, and significant incidents.
  • Ensure that internal management system compliance audits and inspections are carried out on a regular and programmed basis across all areas of the company’s operations.
  • Assist with the assessment and review of all quality, health, safety and environment-related responses and associated document submittals by subcontractors relating to the vetting, prequalification and approval of suppliers.
  • Ensure that a record of all reported accidents, incidents and dangerous occurrences is maintained and support incident investigations.
  • Ensure that adequate investigation and cause analysis are carried out for all reported accidents, incidents and dangerous occurrences, and make recommendations for corrective or preventive action to avoid future recurrences.
  • Develop and deliver suitable training sessions, toolbox talks, workshops and briefings on relevant quality, health, safety and environmental topics for Macro FM team and suppliers as appropriate.
  • Assist with the delivery of induction training for all newly recruited FM team members.
  • Highlight any risks that may damage Macro’s reputation or financial standing and suggest mitigating actions.

About You

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a QHSE Assistant Manager.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • NEBOSH IGC.
  • H&S or engineering degree/diploma or a similar subject.
  • Fire Safety certificate.
  • H&S auditing experience and knowledge of ISO 45001.
  • Experience supporting emergency response and fire safety plans.
  • Good organisation, prioritisation, and planning skills.
  • Good record management skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and independently as required.
  • Experience working in Facilities Management.
  • Practical experience in the implementation of SSoW (PTW/Risk Assessment etc.)
  • Fluent English Speaker and writer.
  • H&S experience working on shopping malls/retail.
  • Experience working in KSA and knowledge on KSA H&S laws.
  • Ability to speak multiple languages to effectively communicate with local contractor workers (e.g. Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, Malayalam, Tamil, Bengali and Filipino) – in addition to English.
