The Campus Services department is a strategic and outward-looking team responsible for overseeing the delivery of essential services, including:

As part of the department’s ongoing development, we are seeking a Van Driver to play a crucial role in supporting our logistics, delivering food and supplies across The University of Salfords campuses, and ensuring the smooth operation of our services. This role is key in ensuring that our customers receive timely and efficient service.

The Van Driver will be responsible for transporting goods safely, maintaining the vehicle, and supporting the hospitality team with deliveries related to catering, hospitality, and retail services. You will be at the forefront of our delivery operations, interacting with staff and customers to ensure smooth and safe transportation.

The role-holder must demonstrate excellent driving skills, reliability, and a customer-focused approach, with the ability to manage time efficiently and work both independently and as part of a team. You will also play a part in ensuring the standards and services within food, drink, and retail outlets are met in a timely manner.

This role will require driving , so you will need full driving license for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Taking deliveries, checking deliveries for accuracy and product quality
  • To prepare and present food and drink, ensure all food products are attractively displayed and correctly with POS correctly positioned. To monitor and track sales via the food app and ensure orders processed in a timely manner.
  • Undertake food service delivery across multiple outlets including hospitality for large events through to bespoke VIP events.
  • To restock food and drink, stock rotation and storage duties.
  • To portion and present food and drink; to prepare the counter/trolley/take away area etc. for service; to serve and clear the counters.

Estates and Facilities

Our Estates and Facilities team lead the development of our campus, creating engaging and innovative learning, working and living environments for colleagues, students, and partners. The Directorate has over 300 employees and works with a wide range of external contractors.

The services arm of the Directorate is responsible for delivering full estates and facilities management to the University, including capital development, property maintenance, cleaning, security, caretaking and landscaping. Covering 33 buildings across the estate, split currently across 5 sites.

Led by the Estates and Facilities team, the University is undergoing a transformation to deliver its Campus Masterplan. Together with Salford City Council and The English Cities Fund, there will be an investment of £2.5bn over the next 20-years, as part of the Crescent regeneration programme. This investment will transform our campus and create a new city district that will bring together industry, education and innovation, providing new spaces for teaching, innovation, commercial, residential, green space and sustainable travel.
