Job Description
- Works independently and within teams to use the necessary data extraction, manipulation, and aggregation techniques to prepare, clean, normalize, and validate data to complete varied projects and tasks.
- Translates complex technical findings into an easily understood narrative. Prepares comprehensive documentation for requirements, test plans, user manuals, technical diagrams, and training materials.
- Uses expert level knowledge to identify and develop sources of information from structured and unstructured data, criminal intelligence databases, public information sources, internal Postal Service databases, reference manuals, and audit and law enforcement reports.
- Uses relational databases, data lakes, data lakehouses, and other data environments to create a variety of analytic products such as business intelligence tools, summary tables, comparison graphs, or temporal, association, and link analysis charts.
- Strong analytical skills and able to understand how business questions are solved by data
- Strong data reporting skills (bar charts, histograms, etc.)
- Establishes, implements, and interprets the requirements for data analysis of records
- Coaches and mentors other team members on functional and technical understanding to include design and gathering strategy
- Works with team to ensure that they understand the requirements
- Participates in data analysis as it pertains to records and results
- Identifies current and potential problem areas and able to makes recommendations
- Creates and maintains all applicable documentation
- Communicates results to various levels graphically
- Creates Requirements Documents
- Maintains requirements traceability
Required Skills
- 3+ years of specialized experience in Data Analysis design, development, implementation and maintenance of complex database systems.
- Expertise in requirements gathering, preparation, and analysis
- Acquire and abstract primary or secondary data from existing internal or external data sources
- Knowledge of statistics, at least to the degree necessary in order to communicate easily with statisticians
- Experience in data mining techniques and procedures and knowing when their use is appropriate
- Ability to present complex information in an understandable and compelling manner
- Technical writing to include the development of data dictionary, functional and technical requirements as well as other analysis documents
- Be able to work with a minimal amount of direction while being pro-active in keeping management informed of project related issues
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem solving
- Experience creating detailed test cases / graphs
- Technical expertise regarding relational/dimensional data models and database design development. Strong SQL and Python, skills working in cloud and analytical environments such as Azure and Databricks. background
- Experience using Excel, VISIO, the MS Office set of tools
Desired Skills
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a technical field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related fields
