Miller School of Albemarle seeks an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Studio Art teacher to join our faculty for the 2025-26 school year. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching a broad range of art disciplines, such as drawing, painting, pottery, mixed media, printmaking and sculpture. The candidate should demonstrate a willingness to work as a team player and take on an active role in the vibrant Miller School community. A candidate should be inspired by the mission of Miller School and embrace the opportunity to serve as an example of our “mind, hands, and heart” philosophy for our students.
Outside the classroom, the position includes 2 seasons of coaching a sport and/or leading a co-curricular activity, acting as an advisor to a group of 7-8 students, and serving on a supervisory duty team.
The starting date for this position is August 2025. This is a full-time position, with healthcare and retirement plan benefits.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- A bachelor’s degree in Studio Art or Art Education or experience working as an artist or an art instructor.
- Experience teaching multilevel classes within the same class period is preferred, but not required.
- Experience teaching the fundamentals of art to developing artists.
- Experience supporting portfolio production for advanced students is desirable but not required.
- A passion for working with young people, coupled with a commitment to meeting the needs of diverse learners.
- Relevant athletic or cocurricular experience that will contribute meaningfully to MSA’s after-school programming.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
