Job Title: Clinical Documentation Specialist

Work Schedule: 9am – 5 pm EST
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Clinical Documentation Specialist to ensure that client notes comply with Local Coverage Determinations (LCD) guidelines. The ideal candidate will have a nursing degree and a strong understanding of clinical documentation best practices. This role involves reviewing medical notes, advising clients on compliance, and staying updated with evolving LCD guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review client documentation to ensure compliance with LCD guidelines and other regulatory requirements
- Provide guidance on best practices for clinical note-taking and documentation
- Stay current with LCD policies, Medicare guidelines, and industry standards to ensure accuracy
- Offer recommendations for improvement in documentation practices to enhance compliance and efficiency
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to address documentation deficiencies and implement necessary corrections
- Assist in audits, reporting, and quality assurance initiatives related to clinical documentation
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) (Required)
- Experience in insurance and billing
- Strong knowledge of LCD guidelines, Medicare policies, and medical documentation
- Experience in clinical documentation improvement (CDI), medical auditing, or compliance is a plus
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify documentation gaps or errors
- Strong communication skills to effectively educate and advise clients
- Proficiency in EHR/EMR systems and medical documentation software
