Job Description
The IT Officer is responsible for managing the organization’s technology infrastructure, ensuring that all IT systems, software, and hardware operate efficiently and securely. The ideal candidate will provide technical support, implement IT policies, and maintain data security. They will also play a key role in enhancing the non-profit’s digital presence, ensuring our teams can work effectively and leverage technology for social impact.
JOB DESCRIPTION
IT Infrastructure Management:
o Maintain and oversee the organization’s hardware, software, and network systems.
o Manage server setup, maintenance, and backups to ensure data integrity and security.
o Ensure the reliability of internet connections and manage network access for staff.
Technical Support:
o Provide day-to-day technical support to staff and trainees, troubleshooting IT-related issues.
o Train staff on the use of new systems, tools, and software as needed.
Cybersecurity:
o Implement and manage data security protocols, including firewalls, antivirus software, and encryption systems.
o Regularly monitor for security breaches and respond to any cybersecurity incidents.
System and Software Management:
o Install, configure, and update necessary software for the organization’s operations.
o Oversee the management of cloud storage solutions (e.g., Google Drive, Microsoft 365).
Digital Strategy Support:
o Assist in maintaining the non-profit’s website, ensuring it is secure, functional, and up to date.
o Support the organization’s social media and online communications by managing digital tools and platforms.
Data Management:
o Ensure proper storage, backup, and protection of organizational data.
o Support data analysis efforts by organizing data efficiently and ensuring data is accessible.
Vendor Management:
o Coordinate with third-party vendors for IT-related services such as software licensing, hardware procurement, or outsourced support.
Dashboard Development and Management:
o Manage and update the GBS Growth Initiative dashboard.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in IT management, preferably in a non-profit or social sector environment.
- Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and cloud-based solutions.
- Experience with cybersecurity measures and data protection regulations.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
- Strong knowledge of software and platforms commonly used in non-profits (e.g., CRM systems, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace).
- Experience with website management (e.g., WordPress, Wix) and digital marketing tools.
