About Klarity

Klarity (YC S18) automates documents and workflows using GenAI. Our vision is a future of exponential organizations—companies that can hyper-scale without vast back office teams required to create, review and maintain documents.

Our customers include companies like Google, Databricks, CrowdStrike, DoorDash, and Zoom. They use Klarity to 1) save time and money, 2) reduce compliance risk, and 3) automate and accelerate otherwise manual processes (e.g., revenue contract review).

We found strong Product Market Fit in 2020 and raised a $70m Series B in June 2024 with leading investors like NFDG, Tola Capital and Scale Venture Partners.

Your Role And Mission

In this phase of rapid growth, we are excited to grow our Finance and Accounting function. We are seeking a Corporate Accounting Leader who will report directly to the Head of Finance and Accounting. This is a foundational, high-impact role that will have full ownership of our General Ledger and lead the build-out of the Accounting department.

  • Manage the General Ledger: Own the end-to-end general ledger function, including intercompany transactions, software capitalization, accruals, reclass entries, and global consolidation.
  • Automate and Optimize Processes: Design and implement Accounting processes to serve Klarity as it grows, with a focus on leveraging AI – including Klarity solutions – and other cutting edge technologies for efficiency and automation gains.
  • Oversee the Close Process: Drive timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including reporting packages, and analyses of results.
  • Lead External Providers: Directly oversee external service providers – those performing month-end close, AP/AR, and other specialized tasks – ensuring timely, satisfactory outcomes and smooth partnership.
  • Execute with Detail and Precision: Maintain Accounting systems and records to serve as a single-source-of-truth; enable and demonstrate data-driven decision making.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with Sales, GTM Operations, Engineering and other teams to ensure appropriate revenue recognition, accurate categorization of expenses and allocations, and relevant reporting, considering their financial interests and objectives.

Own Company-Facing Policies & Programs: Develop and evolve policies and associated tools, e.g., Ramp and Carta; educate and enable key stakeholders as changes are made.

You Are

  • Someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment where ambiguity is the norm, and speed is of utmost importance.
  • An adept problem solver. You can distill complex information and scenarios, navigating to alignment, action and balanced, thoughtful solutions.
  • An excellent communicator, with a proven ability to adapt messaging for diverse audiences—executives, cross-functional partners, and external stakeholders—to gather the right information, bring folks along, and drive change.
  • A builder. Whether it’s processes, controls, or teams, you want to make a real impact during a dynamic growth stage, creating order from chaos.
  • You have a growth mindset: you’re open to new challenges, feedback, and pivoting quickly when needed.
  • A hands-on leader – a player coach, willing to roll up your sleeves to handle day-to-day tasks while also contributing to high-level strategy.
  • An early adopter. You embrace technology, especially AI, continuously seeking automation opportunities.
  • Exceptional at building and leading high performing teams. You have a track record of hiring high-functioning Individual contributors, and care about strong relationships with colleagues across the organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including a blend of public accounting (Big 4 or national firm) and in-house experience at a high-growth tech company.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of US GAAP, with experience in general ledger, financial statements, consolidations, and month-end close.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, develop, and scale an accounting team, either as a direct lead or key influencer.
  • Adept at diagnosing workflows, implementing process improvements, and providing and using accounting metrics to guide decision-making.
  • Proven success partnering with cross-functional teams (e.g., FP&A, Sales, Operations) to drive alignment on key financial processes.
  • Thrives in startup environments, embraces change, and is willing to pivot or roll up their sleeves as needed.

Bonus Points

  • CPA or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • Experience in AI-focused B2B SaaS.
  • Worked with a high-growth, high-speed startup at Series B/C/D Stage.

Benefits

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance
  • 401(k) plan
  • Monthly Wellness Budget and annual Learning & Development budget
  • Relocation Bonus for SF/Bay-Area, if applicable
  • A culture of rapid iteration, collaboration, and AI adoption, where your ideas and contributions can tangibly shape the future of the company
