Job Description

We are a dynamically growing company in the Air Chartering business with a diverse fleet operating on a world-wide level. AirX is an international company offering exposure to various markets and jurisdictions from around the world.

AirX Charter is looking for an EFB Administrator, based in Malta.

Role

The EFB administrator is the primary link between AirX and the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) system and software suppliers.

What will you do:

  • Responsible to maintain the EFB Policy and Procedures Manual up to date and in line with EASA Regulations and TMCAD requirements.
  • Responsible for the administration of EFB System including all the EFB applications installed, and for providing support to the EFB users regarding these applications. Such applications include, FlySmart, Boeing OPT, APG iPreFlight and Fore Flight.
  • To coordinate with the Performance Engineering Specialist to update electronic files associated with aircraft performance related to software loaded on the EFB.
  • For hardware and software configuration management of the EFBs, and, in particular, for ensuring that no unauthorised software is installed.
  • Ensures that only valid versions of the application software and current date packages are installed on the EFB system.
  • Collaborate with app developers to address reported bugs, providing temporary solutions to flight crew to maintain operational continuity.
  • Oversee upgrades to the EFB device infrastructure, including transitioning to newer device models, improving logistics, and establishing a streamlined partnership for sourcing parts.
  • Manage and maintain the total fleet devices, including those used in simulators, ensuring optimal performance and compliance. Resolve time-sensitive EFB-related issues and minimize disruptions.
  • Liaise with Jeppesen for the management and distribution of chart licenses across the fleet.
  • Contribute to internal and external EFB related audits, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and operational requirements.
  • Update and improve the document management system available on all EFB devices, enhancing accessibility and usability for flight crews.
  • Responsibility for ensuring of hardware and software conformity to the applicable standards. The EFB administrator will be responsible for ensuring that only the current versions of the application software and data packages are installed on the EFB system.
  • Responsibility for the procurement and record keeping of hardware components allocation including spare iPads, mounting devices, protective cases and suction cups.
  • Permanent monitoring of EFB related system-behaviour out of pilot reports and feedback.
  • Verifies whether software changes/upgrades affect the original system specifications by checking once a month with the related Service Provider.
  • Reporting system-anomalies to the Nominated Person Flight Operations, whenever this is detected.
  • Monthly verification of validity and expiration of EFB Application Software, databases and software licences including Jeppesen licenses. To inform finance department for timely payment of licenses renewal.
  • Assists the NPFO and the aircraft type Fleet Chiefs in the update of the OMB.

Who are we looking for:

  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels both inside and outside the company.
  • Good aviation knowledge and previous experience in an EASA regulatory environment.
  • Strong computer literacy and computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat and other job position related software applications.
  • Experience as a Flight Dispatcher, or holder of an EASA PPL, or EASA CPL, or EASA frozen ATPL or EASA ATPL.
  • Experience in mobile technology management and previous experience in EFB administration is a desired asset.
