Director of Alumni Relations

Job Description

Walsh Jesuit High School opened its doors to 153 freshmen in 1965 and is now the proud alma mater to nearly 10,000 alumni who actively engage their communities as men and women for others. To support this rich heritage and mission, we are currently seeking a dynamic Alumni Director to develop, direct, and maintain our alumni relations activities and events. Additional responsibilities include engaging alumni in and assisting with various fundraising events to sustain the financial health of the school.

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, nonprofit management or related field and a minimum of three years of experience in event planning, fundraising, marketing, or sales. Other qualifications include highly effective communication skills and initiative, the ability to plan creatively and strategically, recruit and lead volunteers and collaborate successfully with others. Some evening and weekend hours each month, along with occasional out-of-town travel, is required.

Essential Functions of this position include:

Alumni Engagement

  • Develop a comprehensive annual engagement plan that includes programming tailored to different alumni demographics (recent graduates, long-term alumni, different interest groups, etc.) including the following major events:
  • Legacy Events:
  • Reunion Weekend
  • Homecoming Weekend
  • Golf Outings (2) – Warrior Fund and Alumni
  • Legacy Awards Evening – Manresa, Distinguished and Young Alumni
  • Engagement Events:
  • Warriors on the Road
  • Alumni Masses (Mass of Remembrance, Legacy Mass, Alumni Mass, Christmas Eve Mass)

Communications

  • Monthly Warrior Wire alumni newsletter
  • Targeted outreach initiatives to keep alumni informed and connected – texting program
  • Communication and protocol for alumni noteworthy events including weddings, births, and deaths
  • Highlight alumni achievements through feature stories, spotlights, class notes, etc. for Warrior Paths and other alumni communications

Alumni Leadership Development

  • Liaison and ex-officio of the Alumni Association
  • Identify/create opportunities for alumni to take active roles in the school’s strategic planning and development efforts.
  • Develop and cultivate effective communication and activities with upper-class students that will foster future alumni volunteers and positive alumni relations (i.e. teaching class)
  • Identify and solicit class ambassadors

Administrative

  • Participate as a senior team member of the Advancement Team
  • Strategic initiatives determined by the President and/or VP of Advancement
  • Reengage and maintain the alumni database program
  • Reporting and Strategy Assessment including tracking of engagement metrics, event attendance, etc..
  • Identify trends, successes, and areas of development, adjusting strategies as necessary.
  • Networking, including but not limited to developing relationships and sharing best practices with alumni directors at other Jesuit and parochial schools
