Job Description
Reporting to the Head of Manufacturing Engineering, the Senior Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a team of Manufacturing Engineers in the development and delivery of the planned manufacturing process as well as validation requirements.
Required to support both Series production, New Model Launch Programmes and development of our manufacturing facilities the key responsibilities will include H&S compliance, process improvement, project management, technical guidance, resource management and ensuring quality assurance ISO-9001 / IATF 16949.
What You’ll Do
- Health & Safety (H&S) Standards: Adhere to safety regulations and ensure a safe working environment for employees is maintained. Prioritise safety protocols to protect employees, customers, visitors, and prevent accidents.
- Process Improvements: Responsible for identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance production efficiency and quality. Managing the growth of lean manufacturing, systematically minimising waste, continuously driving to improve quality and oversee development of relevant smart factory technology that supports McLarens manufacturing strategy.
- Project Management: Planning, executing, and overseeing manufacturing engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Supervising one-off models such as Bespoke Customer orders to their successful completion.
- Team Leadership: Providing technical guidance and support to the Manufacturing Engineering team, staying updated with the latest advancements in manufacturing technologies and automotive engineering, Industry 4.0. Responsible for resource management, involving the Headcount planning, equipment, and materials, as well as adherence to invest. The manager ensures optimal utilisation of resources to meet planned production targets.
- Quality Assurance: Implementing and maintaining quality control processes (PFMEA, control plans), working closely with the Quality Engineering function to address any quality issues, and ensuring all products meet or exceed customer expectations and legal / conformity of production standards.
- Communication and collaboration: Responsible for manufacturing engineering activities across our MPC manufacturing facility and will drive collaboration with Product Development, Engineering and Launch functions to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality Series Production is maintained whilst robust launch strategy is in place across all model launches’, including Ultimate, Super, Sports, and GT seamless integrating.
What You’ll Bring
- Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Management or suitable industry experience.
- Proven leadership background in manufacturing environment is essential, ideally automotive.
- Desire for intelligent risk taking, grounded in thorough analysis and factual data.
- Robust understanding of quality principles is crucial ideally encompassing a variety of manufacturing processes.
- Proven experience with budgetary control and achievement of cost targets
- An understanding of niche automotive manufacturing requirements in a dynamic, fast-paced environment is highly beneficial.
- Ability to foster a positive team culture and drive high performance in others.
- Experience in developing and implementing improvements to optimise production efficiency and quality
- Strong technical knowledge to ensure right decisions are made at the right time.
