Role Responsibilities

The Senior Vice President (SVP), Portfolio Commercial Excellence is a pivotal member of the Portfolio Support team. This individual will collaborate with deal teams, management teams, and external resources to drive sales excellence and foster commercial growth across the portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partnership with Deal Teams and Management Teams
  • Align the go-to-market (GTM) strategy with the investment thesis and value agenda in collaboration with deal teams.
  • Work with management teams to elevate sales and commercial functions, driving organic revenue growth beyond market benchmarks.
  • Value Creation Leadership
  • Design and implement initiatives for sales growth, including sales organization structures, GTM best practices, compensation plans, and pricing strategies.
  • Lead the commercial leadership talent agenda in partnership with the portfolio human capital team.
  • Commercial Function Optimization
  • Leverage and manage third-party resources to strengthen sales capabilities across the portfolio.
  • Establish and maintain sales KPIs and dashboards to monitor performance and ensure alignment with growth objectives.
  • Best Practice Development and Continuous Improvement
  • Create and maintain a library of best practices for sales excellence, including frameworks, playbooks, and tools.
  • Facilitate cross-portfolio sharing of best practices and build a bench of sales excellence advisors and interim executives.
  • Monitor adherence to quality standards in sales processes, mitigating risks where necessary.
  • Identify training needs and develop programs to enhance the capabilities of portfolio company sales teams.
  • Metrics-Driven Decision Making and Impact Mindset
  • Implement systems for real-time performance measurement and revenue forecasting.
  • Track and report on key metrics such as organic revenue growth, pipeline health, and customer retention improvements.
  • Effective Communication and Risk Management
  • Provide stakeholders with timely and actionable updates to influence alignment and decision-making.

Experience And Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • 15+ years of experience in sales and commercial excellence across diverse industries and business models, with a blend of consulting and operational expertise.
    • At least 10 years in consulting or advisory roles.
    • Proven success in designing and executing value creation plans for revenue growth, including sales organization design and compensation strategies.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and utilize best-practice frameworks and sales enablement tools.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent analytical skills with expertise in establishing sales performance metrics and dashboards.
    • Strong collaborative mindset to work effectively across deal teams, management teams, and external advisors.
    • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities, ensuring alignment and decision-making.
  • Education:
    • MBA or equivalent advanced degree is strongly preferred.
