The Role You Will Contribute

The Project Manager, Government Advocacy supports the AdventHealth government advocacy department in its activities across the system at the state and federal level. The Project Manager works closely with the Public Policy, Regulatory and Community Benefit teams to support the development of the government advocacy multi-year agenda at the state and federal level. The Project Manager adheres to AdventHealth policies and procedures and actively participates in outstanding customer service. The Project Manager is responsible for supporting the leadership team responsible for developing and activating AdventHealth’s advocacy priorities.

The Value You Will Bring To The Team

• Supports the government advocacy team in developing and executing its multi-year agenda.
• Understands and communicates state and federal policy issues to internal and external stakeholder audiences.
• Monitors and analyzes legislative proposals at the state (focused on AdventHealth markets) and federal level in order to update AdventHealth leadership on potential operational or policy changes. Tracks federal and state trends in priority areas such as health care reform, quality and safety, transparency, health equity, etc.
• Serves as writer/editor of government advocacy communications for internal and external stakeholders. Works with public policy, regulatory administration and communications teams to develop and curate content for government advocacy support materials such as:
• Legislative updates and summaries
• Position papers and talking points
• Letters of support/dissent
• Elected official profiles; election analysis
• Presentations
• Executive briefings
• Responsible for annual legislative tracking activities at federal and state level in consultation with government advocacy leadership and contract lobby teams.
• Works with regional and multi-state government advocacy directors to inform and develop AdventHealth advocacy strategies and prepare materials to educate stakeholders. Educates GA leaders on state legislative and policy issues, industry trends and regulatory changes. Monitors state legislative delegation meetings, committee hearings and relevant activities. Regularly communicates progress and new issues affecting advocacy agendas and serves as a liaison between AdventHealth and elected officials.
• At the direction of the Government Advocacy leadership team, meets with elected officials to advocate for AdventHealth positions.
• Researches and cultivates opportunities to position AdventHealth leadership in the legislative process.

The Expertise And Experiences You’ll Need To Succeed

• Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or related field
• Three to five years of experience in Healthcare, Government/Public Relations, or Policy Development
• Three to five years of experience lobbying at the local, state or federal level.

Preferred Qualifications

• Keen understanding of state and federal governmental processes and procedures.
