Job Description

Under the supervision of the production coordinator/supervisor, the incumbent of this position is responsible for handling the customer’s steel parts before and after galvanizing.

Responsibility

Hanging

  • Organize your workspace according to the parts to be handled.
  • Frequently handle parts weighing between 5 lbs and 50 lbs.
  • Unpack the material that the customer has brought.
  • View the different parts to be hung and choose the best method for hanging them.
  • Choose the material for hanging the parts, i.e.: lugs, chains, combs, etc.

Unhooking

  • Organize your workspace according to the parts to be handle.
  • Unhook the parts, so either remove the chains, or cut the pins that attach the steel parts.
  • Frequently handle parts weighing between 5 lbs and 50 lbs.
  • Choose the finishing equipment for the parts: grinder, files, different zinc paints.
  • Make touch-ups on material that has quality defects.
  • Stack the galvanized parts, on pallets, in barrels or on trailers.
  • Pack the parts for shipment to the customer.

Requirements

  • Have knowledge of the different tools used (grinder, pliers, file, etc.)
  • Have good physical shape.
  • Be able to work on the ground, or on ladders to finish parts.
  • Have the ability to work 8 hours standing.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Have the ability to handle and manipulate parts that range from 5 to 50 lbs.

Conditions

  • Work in a production environment where dust may be present.
  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday.
  • Day, evening and night shifts.
  • 40 hours per week.
