About The Role
As Community Engagement Officer, you’ll connect diverse audiences to the Hoo Peninsula through activities, events, and outreach.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Collaborating with partners to deliver engaging activities that showcase the Peninsula’s natural and cultural heritage.
- Working with consultants to craft compelling branding, messaging, and digital content for events and social media.
- Managing Whose Hoo’s digital presence, including social media and the project website.
- Promoting events, volunteering, and community grant opportunities to wide audiences.
- Drafting press releases and giving media interviews to highlight the project.
- Building relationships with partners, schools, cultural organizations, and local communities.
- Supporting volunteer recruitment, training, and coordination.
- Developing and managing a community grant scheme, including advertising and assessments.
- Monitoring and evaluating community outcomes with consultants and ensuring funder commitments are met.
- Ensuring activities comply with Health and Safety, RSPB brand guidelines, and Heritage Fund standards.
What We’re Looking For
We need an enthusiastic, creative individual who can:
- Inspire and engage diverse audiences through outreach, activities, and digital content.
- Build partnerships and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively online and in person, with excellent organizational skills.
- Demonstrate experience in community engagement, outreach, or event delivery, ideally in conservation, heritage, or education.
- Understand Health and Safety requirements and brand guidelines.

This is a 46 month Contract, Full Time role for 37.5 hours per week.
