About QBCC
The Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) is the independent regulator of Queensland’s building and construction industry. QBCC ensures industry integrity, compliance and consumer protection, administering the Queensland Home Warranty Scheme and overseeing licencing, financial sustainability and regulatory enforcement.
QBCC’s role is to educate, protect and support the QLD building and construction industry and community.
With a renewed strategic focus, QBCC is undergoing transformational change, positioning itself as a modern, outcomes-focused regulator. As CEO & Commissioner, you will lead this evolution – enhancing governance, strengthening stakeholder engagement and driving forward an efficient, customer-centric regulatory framework.
About The Role
This role requires an exceptional leader who can balance regulatory oversight with industry engagement, ensuring transparent, fair and effective decision-making in a complex and high-risk environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead QBCC’s strategic transformation, modernising regulatory services and ensuring operational excellence.
- Strengthen governance, compliance and risk management, fostering transparency and accountability.
- Engage with government, industry and consumers to drive trust, fairness and enforcement consistency.
About You
This role requires an executive leader with extensive experience in regulatory, legal, governance, or construction-related industries. Success in this position comes from thriving in complex environments, balancing public accountability, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
You Will Bring
- Executive leadership experience in a complex, highly regulated environment
- Deep understanding of public policy, compliance or regulatory frameworks
- Skilled in decision-making, operational oversight
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including government, industry and community engagement
- Proven ability to drive cultural transformation and service modernisation
- Strategic leadership in governance, financial oversight and risk management
