Job Description
As Managing Director Business Development, you will lead the company’s sales efforts within the Canadian market. This role is responsible for driving revenue growth, developing and executing strategic sales plans, building and leading a high-performing sales team, and fostering strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the overall sales strategy for all lines of business in Canada
- Identify growth opportunities and implement plans to expand market share
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to inform strategy adjustments
- Actively engaging with customers to develop new products and refine existing ones, ensuring alignment with competitive dynamics, market conditions, and scalability
- Recruit, train, and lead a high-performing sales team across Canada
- Ensure adherence to sales processes, policies, and compliance requirements
- Prepare regular sales forecasts and reports
- Establish annual business development budgets, sales targets, and strategic plans
- Highly disciplined, organized and metrics driven approach to managing and reporting on sales performance
- Serve as a key member of the leadership team and provide input on overall business direction, foster a positive work culture, and strong collaboration with other functional leaders.
- Continuous learning and thought leadership while participating in industry events and organization
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field
- 15+ years of successful sales leadership experience
- A balance of strategic vision and willingness to roll up your sleeves to get the job done.
- Proven track record of success in achieving and exceeding sales targets, preferably in the Canadian market
- Strong understanding of Canadian electricity markets and the energy services sector (specifically demand response, distributed energy resources, and software/energy as a service).
- Ability to deliver on short-term targets, while implementing a long-range strategy and vision
- Powerful verbal and written communication skills utilizing various medium.
- Excellent financial and analytical skills
- Product development leadership by developing scalable solutions and innovative business models
- Entrepreneurial approach to business development with a positive “let’s figure it out” attitude and a desire to succeed
- Strong C-Level presence, strategic acumen, consultative-selling skills and executive credibility
- Proficiency in CRM tools and other sales technologies
- Ability to travel throughout Canada
