Job Overview
The Construction Project Engineer plays a critical role in supporting project execution from inception to close-out. This position is responsible for managing project documentation, attending project meetings (in person and/or virtual), and ensuring compliance with contract requirements. The Project Engineer will work closely with the Project Manager (PM) and Superintendent to facilitate smooth project operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Project Set-up:
- Establish project folder structures.
- Ensure all drawings, specifications, and bidding documents are properly stored.
- Create and maintain a contact list in our PM software, including clients, architects, engineers, inspectors, and the superintendent.
- Assist the PM in issuing Letters of Intent (LOIs) to subcontractors.
- Develop and maintain a submittal log and material list log.
- Request and track subcontractor submittals, ensuring timely receipt.
- Prepare submittals for PM review and distribute approved submittals as required.
- Assemble the Superintendent’s binder, including:
- Ongoing Project Responsibilities:
- Attend virtual and in-person project progress meetings; take and distribute detailed meeting notes.
- Draft and submit Requests for Information (RFIs) to clarify project details.
- Act as a field point of contact for material ordering, ensuring PM approval before order placement.
- Maintain and update all project documents, including the Superintendent’s binder.
- Review and integrate approved RFIs into the site construction drawing set.
- Project Close-out:
- Review project specifications to determine closeout documentation requirements.
- Develop and maintain a Closeout Log with vendor responsibilities.
- Request and track closeout documentation from subcontractors.
- Collect and organize redline drawings from the Superintendent and vendors.
- Compile an electronic closeout package for PM approval. Depending on client requirements, prepare hardcopy closeout binders as necessary.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in construction project engineering.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Knowledge of construction documents, submittals, RFIs, and project closeout procedures.
