Job Summary
The ‘Senior Director, Event Services’ for Rocket Arena is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of large-scale events hosted at the venue. This position requires a combination of strategic planning, operational management, and stakeholder collaboration to ensure successful event delivery.
The position of ‘Senior Director, Event Services’, reporting to the ‘Senior Vice President, Facility Operations’ is structured to lead the arena’s major event strategy, drive specific event activity through its attraction of major national and international events to be staged in the Arena. In addition, as the city’s host, we will deliver an exceptional experience for event organizers, participants and fans attending such events.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Event Planning & Execution –
- Oversee all aspects of event planning, technical advancement, logistics, staffing, vendor management, and budget adherence.
- Develop and implement operation procedures tailored to specific needs of the venue and its events.
- Coordinate with clients to understand their objectives and ensure their expectations are met.
- Manage event timelines, site inspections, and production meetings to ensure seamless execution.
Operational Management –
- Direct event operations, including setup, teardown, and on-site management during events.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, labor/union agreements, and venue policies.
- Oversee transportation logistics, parking management, security protocols, and crowd control measures.
Team Leadership –
- Lead cross-functional teams comprising internal staff, local (IATSE) union crews, contractors, and volunteers.
- Recruit, train and supervise event coordinators, managers, and support staff.
- Negotiate contracts with vendors and service providers to ensure cost efficiency.
- Develop strategies to attract new business opportunities for the venue.
Stakeholder Collaboration –
- Serve as the primary liaison between client, vendors, city departments, and other stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships with community organizations, sponsors and partners to enhance the venue’s reputation.
Post-Event Analysis –
- Produce detailed post-event reports to evaluate success metrics and identify areas for improvement.
- Use data analytics to refine future event strategies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in event management or operations within large-scale venues, such as arenas or stadiums.
- Proven track record in managing high-profile events (e.g., concerts, sports events, conventions).
- Proficiency in CAD files and event management.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage diverse teams effectively.
- Requires flexibility to work events, weekends, holidays, or extended hours based on event schedules.
- Physical demands may include standing for long periods, navigating multiple flights of stairs, lifting equipment during event setup, etc.
- Exceptional organizational skills to handle multiple events simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client relations and stakeholder engagement.
- Problem-solving abilities to address operational challenges dynamically.
